Take a Sidewalk on the Wild Side

Via the New York Post, of course. Hopefully the DOT will enlist Lou Reed for the next round of “Don’t Be a Jerk” PSAs.

This is not a negative generalization (because I want more sidewalks to be shared spaces) but I’ve noticed that it is mostly old men who do the complaining *and* the riding when it comes to bicycles on NYC sidewalk. (That is excluding of course those who don’t have much choice in the matter because they must deliver pizzas to highway addresses, or starve their families.) It seems like the whole pointless dispute could be settled in one of those off track betting venues.
Cut Lou some slack. The man is like 147-years-old and his pancreas and liver probably stopped functioning some time around 1982 after all of the drugs he did in the two decades prior. I could care less if he wants to use his bike like a skinny wheelchair on NYC’s sidewalks.
Besides, it was probably such a perfect day…
